I have indeed taken it as a challenge, but I am having trouble with your comment here. My interpretation of these stories is that, tired of the referral, Miranda pulls herself out of the global pain loop and finds herself unable to feel emotion as a result. In story 2, I assume Zeke's getting her hunger--but is he also getting her pain? I don't know if he's wincing because of that, or just from watching her work.
